Do you feel bloated and/or fatigued after you eat? Increasing awareness of digestive health has many people asking questions about “leaky gut” syndrome. Here is what you need to know!
Gas, bloating, cramps, diarrhea or constipation are the most common symptoms. They are unpleasant and most of us will agree suffering with digestive issues can make or break your day. Other symptoms include joint pain, skin rashes, and auto-immune conditions. Simple daily activities can escalate to stressful tasks when we are bombarded with managing these issues. Let’s be real here- no one has time for any of that!
Our “gut” is responsible for 70% of our immune system, with the tiny microbes and bacteria doing far more than simply breaking down food. Unquestionable research is now showing the importance of balancing and healing the lining of the intestines in order to prevent inflammatory and degenerative diseases. Certain medications or treatments can drastically affect our digestive system. Chemotherapy, radiation, corticosteroids, even aspirin and antibiotics can damage our gut by killing off the “good bacteria” that protects us. Possibly the most hidden of the culprits, are unrecognized food allergies/intolerances.
So what now?
